When the vehicle fails to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, it increases the risk of a crash.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Meanwhile, an Arizona man has filed a wrongful death\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/41ksix2wurbknsroriuevkea-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Tesla-Complaint-2-22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit against Tesla<\/a>\u00a0in the Superior Court of the State of California, Santa Clara County. He blames the automaker for his wife\u2019s death.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc9d25c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"bc9d25c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Tesla Recalls Vehicles Equipped with Rolling Stop Function\n<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3df7fe2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3df7fe2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/static.nhtsa.gov\/odi\/rcl\/2022\/RCAK-22V037-9109.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tesla reported its recall<\/a>\u00a0of 53,822 vehicles on January 27, 2022. The recall affects the following vehicles:<\/p><ul><li>Certain 2016-2022 Model S and Model X<\/li><li>2017-2022 Model 3<\/li><li>2020-2022 Model Y<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The problem is the \u201crolling stop\u201d feature, which was released via an over-the-air update to the affected vehicles on October 20, 2020. The vehicles had to be traveling below 5.6 miles per hour and detecting no relevant moving cars, pedestrians, or bicyclists near the intersection. The feature required drivers to opt-in for what was dubbed the \u201cassertive\u201d mode, but it drew negative attention on social media as it appeared to violate state laws requiring vehicles to come to a complete stop.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>This drew the NHTSA\u2019s attention. Tesla\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/autos-transportation\/tesla-recalls-nearly-54000-us-vehicles-rolling-stop-software-feature-2022-02-01\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">met with NHTSA staff<\/a>\u00a0on January 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and January 19<sup>th<\/sup>, according to\u00a0<em>Reuters<\/em>, to discuss the functionality of the software. On January 20<sup>th<\/sup>, Tesla agreed to the recall but stated it was not aware of any collisions, injuries, or fatalities related to the issue.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The automaker will perform an over-the-air software update that disables the rolling stop functionality, free of charge. It is also sending notification letters to owners on March 28, 2022. For more information, consumers can contact Tesla customers service at 1-877-798-3752.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The NHTSA opened an investigation into Tesla\u2019s Autopilot driver assistance system last August after several crashes occurred involving Tesla models.
